12/2020: In 2020, Copiah Animal Shelter sheltered, cared for, and found homes for 388 unwanted and homeless animals. Not in that count are more animals CAS was able to help like lost/found pets that didn't come into the Shelter and connecting people to others resources. Despite the strange year with Covid-19 Pandemic barriers this is the highest annual number of animals our small volunteer-led shelter in our small town rural area has been able to help. Thank you seems so inadequate to all the people involved in helping animals! Many, many thanks and recognition go to Copiah Animal Shelter manager and workers, veterinary clinic staff, volunteers, donors, foster homes, adoption rescue partners, transporters, supporters, etc. It takes a lot of people effort to make such a positive impact on abandoned and hurting animals. Or animals that needed a new family when they lost their longtime owner to illness. And while "numbers" are nice to know, as a limited-intake Shelter, CAS goals include quality over quantity. CAS animals are vet checked and treated - a long list like proper nutrition, spay/neuter, vaccinations, expensive and lengthy heartworm treatments/preventives, flea/tick/parasite treatment preventives, lots of skin conditions . . . broken leg surgeries, several bullet removal surgeries!
Let's make 2021 another great year helping animals and people!
